Top 5 best-selling cars in the USA in 2021

The United States is the second-largest car market in the world, the country alone accounts for nearly 17% of the cars sold in the whole world. With so many cars being bought every day, people are bound to have their favorites, there are some cars they stick to through generations while others have a reputation for reliability which makes the customers come back to them again every time a new generation is launched. For instance, the Malibu has been in production for nearly half a century but is still a crowd favorite.

Today we take a look at the most popular cars in America in the year 2020, at a glance the really famous ones are 2021 Chevrolet Equinox, 2021 Toyota Corolla, 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2021 GMC Sierra 1500, 2021 Toyota RAV4. We are going to take a look at the state they are the numero uno in and some details about the car.

Before we take a look at the car themselves, let us take a look at some common insights.

  • Honda can be stated as the supreme carmaker in the United States; two of its models, the Civic and the Accord rules over 17 states. Nissan has gained a little bit of traction and has come first in 12 states.
  • There are some very interesting regional differences; like the Altima which rules the South and Southwest. The coastal states tend to favor the Hondas more, states on the East Coast favor the Accord while those on the West Coast favor the Civic. People in the Midwest love their Chevrolets, it has to be either a Malibu or Impala.
  • Only 2 states out of the 50 favor SUVs over sedans, the rest of the states prefer the latter.
  • 2020 showed us what cars needed to have to win the game. The road for 2021 lies ahead and it is a tough competition to rank as the first. That’s good for the customers though, a boiling competition means carmakers put for their best which means better cars for the customers to buy. Let us finally look at the list of cars and their MSRPs which are all set to rule 2021
  • 2021 Chevrolet Equinox: $23,800
  • 2021 Toyota Corolla: $23,400
  • 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500: $28,600
  • 2021 GMC Sierra 1500: $32,690
  • 2021 Toyota RAV4: $26,050

  • 2021 Chevrolet Equinox – this handsome crossover is the one to get if you want decent fuel economy, a roomy cabin, and a spry driving demeanor. The 2021 Chevrolet Equinox is built for family-hauling duties, and you have the option of choosing between a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder or a far gutsier turbo 2.0-liter. You get a front-wheel-drive as standard with both the engines but also have the option of pairing an all-wheel-drive powertrain. The cabin’s styling is swoopy which is quite pleasing to the eye and is well matched to the exteriors, but the Equinox also has plenty of infotainment niceties and the best part is that most of them come as standard. That being said, the standard Equinox models come short on many creature comforts, and the upper trims are priced a bit too high. This is also not a car for the driving enthusiasts, especially the entry-level engine which is quite sluggish. However, buyers who are satisfied with capacious interiors and an athletic chassis and are not bothered by the much more refined competitors will not find faults.

  • 2021 Toyota Corolla – we all know the tradition the 2021 Toyota Corolla is all about, safety-minded, inexpensive, and a well-equipped compact car and the 2021 model is no exception. You get a variety of personalities and it lies in more than the 4-door hatchback or the sedan choices. You can choose between a pair of dutiful 4-cylinder engines and then, of course, there is the ultra frugal hybrid powertrain. There is even something for the folks who like driver engagement, a manual transmission, and a sport-tuned suspension, still won’t be as exciting as its rivals though; the engines also get noisy when you push them. When you look inside the hatchback, the rear seat is small and so is the cargo hold. If you want spaciousness in the backbench, go for the sedan, both the cars have a comfortable ride and desirable standard features. The Corolla might not be the most exciting, but they are well equipped and attractive.

  • 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 – this full-size pickup truck is one of the most widely respected trucks in the segment. The half-ton truck boasts stout towing capacities all thanks to the assortment of excellent powertrain choices. The headliner is the impressive 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8 that is quick as expected but also is fuel-efficient. Going with the trailering theme, an array of assistive technologies are also equipped with the truck including a rear-view camera. The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 interiors are a downer, they look and feel way cheaper than the rivals; even the ride quality is harsh. The only way it is better than its domestic competitors is the versatility and the capability all thanks to the terrific 6.2-liter V-8 powertrain.

  • GMC Sierra 1500 – the Sierra works hard to stand out in this sea of the highly competitive segment of full-size pickups. The GMC Sierra 1500 is as functional as it is handsome, coming equipped with a carbon-fiber cargo bed and a multi-function tailgate. Similar to the Silverado, it also gets the 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8, the largest engine the half-tom trucks have, but there is a myriad of other engines on the roster. The off-road-oriented AT4 trim and the ever-popular Denali trim don’t only look great but also go the ‘off-road distance. However, both these trims don’t quite live up to the costs they ask; the Denali isn’t all that luxurious and none of the trucks offer any refinement with the ride quality. The half-ton Sierra makes sense for those who prioritize the exclusive cargo-bed features, the grand styling, the diverse selection of engines, and the handsome bodywork above refinement.

  • 2021 Toyota RAV4 – doesn’t matter if you want something swanky, or spartan, or outdoorsy, almost all your tastes are quenched with the 2021 Toyota RAV4. From the base LE trim built for the economically conscious, to the Limited and TRD Off-Road models, both of which serve two different purposes, there is a RAV4 for everyone. However, all of them will have the same engine and gearbox combination under the hood, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, and an 8-speed automatic. You get all-wheel-drive as an option which makes things look a bit brighter. The square-jawed looks certainly seemed inspired by its cousins, the Tacoma, and the 4Runner, but the car-based construction results in one of the smoother ride than any of Toyota’s products. On the inside, the materials are durable and the accommodations are spacious. If you want a lot of modern-day amenities steer clear of the entry-level trim, that being said the top trims also get pricey. The engine tends to moan and groan but the road manners are car-like. The truck-inspired exterior styling looks good, even better are the driver-assist features which come as standard. The RAV4 then is tailor-made for people who want something practical, likable, and roomy in a compact package that can be had in a variety of flavors.
